YOUNG MONK FRUIT WATER
This drink provides relief to the lungs and clears out toxins from any inhaled smoke. The recipe comes from a Chinese herbalist friend of ours, who originally developed the beverage for his patients who smoked.
Serves 8
Ingredients:
1 young monk fruit 羅漢果
8 cups of water
Directions:
Break up the monk fruit (including the shell and flesh) with your hands. Place it in a pot with water, cover, and bring to boil using high heat. Once it simmers, turn the heat off but don’t uncover the pot. After three minutes, pour the liquid out.
Tips:
Buy monk fruit that is slightly yellow-green in color. Steer clear of older monk fruit, which is dark brown. Do not drink more than twice a day.
